Città di Fiume hut

Ring from Staulanza to the Aquileia hut

November started with days, to say the least, spectacular! Clear skies and an ideal climate for the season light up a worm in the head: mountains!
In a very short time I organize the itinerary and off to the Staulanza pass, in Zoldo.
Today my companion in adventure is Giorgia, impatient to reach the foot of the Pelmo and enjoy a feast of the Dolomites.
Departure at an altitude of 1663m, CAI path 467, towards the Città di Fiume refuge!
The path is immediately easy: a comfortable mule track accompanies hikers of any level through the undergrowth. Going up, you can always see the imposing silhouette of the “Caregon of the Eternal Father” which always gives new emotions. You also cross the Florentine stream which heralds the arrival of the homonymous hut. From here you can see a vast panorama where you can enjoy the Marmolada and Piz Boè!
Leaving the hut, currently closed, in a short time you reach the Città di Fiume refuge. Mount Pelmo reigns supreme in a breathtaking postcard together with the refuge. The Civetta peeps out and at its side the less famous Monte Crot.
The clouds are absent, the sun is hot as in the most beautiful late spring! A couple of sandwiches and lunch becomes heavenly in front of the Dolomites.

Once the batteries have been recharged, the ring return awaits us. Back at the Fiorentina hut we took the variant of path 467 that will take us to the Aquileia refuge. A fairly steep path with very slippery ground in some places. Some fallen trees in the middle of the street bring back the memory of the storm Vaia. We thus reach the Ru Antermon: an impetuous stream that we cross comfortably on a wooden bridge.
From here the road becomes wider and quieter, we reach a grassy plateau where cows certainly grazed in summer. In front of us we see the Aquileia refuge, the last stage of this spectacular adventure. The autumn colors here are lively and colorful, alone they would satisfy the whole day ... but, turning around, the Dolomites give us one last gift: the Pelmo, clear of clouds, imperious, with an autumn stain at its base. An image carved in the heart that makes us return to the car happy and proud of our mountains!
