Ciareido e Bajon hut

Hike at Pian dei Buoi

Excursion to the Cadorino, passing through Lozzo di Cadore, destination Pian dei Buoi. In this adventure Giorgia accompanies me, curious to see one of the greenest and most relaxing places in the Dolomites. From the center of Lozzo we took the road (very narrow) that arrives directly on the plain: watch out for new drivers or non-experts of mountain roads, don't do it! Upon arrival, the day, with a few white clouds here and there, painted a fairytale landscape with green meadows and Marmarole masters of the scene. First stop is the church of the Madonna del Ciareido, a pearl that with its position dominates the Pian dei Buoi and allows you to enjoy a magnificent Antelao in the background.

From here we continued to the Ciareido hut: a beautiful paved road for some stretches that with a decisive climb leads to about 2000mt. The Ciareido hut stands out on the top, a piece of history of these mountains: from here you can admire a pinwheel of mountains from the Tudaio, to the Spalti di Toro up to the Sassolungo di Cibiana. Refreshed with delicious desserts, we decided to add another refuge to the excursion: the Bajon! Descending from Ciareido, on the right begins a very easy path which, in the middle of the woods, leads in 30m to the Bajon hut. From here you have a new point of view on Pian dei Buoi and on the Dolomites of central Cadore.

Difficulty

Hikers - Itineraries on paths or evident traces in various types of terrain (pastures, debris, stony ground ...). They are generally marked with paint or cairns (pyramid-shaped stacked stones that allow you to identify the route even from a distance). They can also take place in snowy but only slightly inclined environments. They require the equipment described in the part dedicated to hiking and sufficient orientation skills, walking training for a few hours.
